The Kratky method of hydroponics uses jars as water reservoirs for low-effort, high-yield growing. Simply set up, plant seeds, let the plants drink down the water to the halfway point, and top up as needed every few days. Expanded clay pebbles provide a reusable, stable medium to anchor the base of the plants while allowing roots to grow freely and get as much oxygen as they need.
These kits are customizable, so you can configure the kit based on what you already have on hand. Check the pictures for more details about what’s in each version of the kits.
For these kits, I source as many mason jars as I can from thrift and resale shops, and all of the peanut butter jars are diverted from the waste stream as well. You’re using reclaimed materials when you buy these kits!
NOTE: Peanut butter jar kits come with a 3D printed adapter ring to help the net pots sit more securely on top of the jar.
